Employees refer to you as "red tags", guests try to take advantage of you, it's a four day process of long days and lots of frustration. Until, that is, you get to take it off.
I don't want to get anyone's hopes up, there is no magical ceremony where you receive actual ears. Instead, it's more like standing in a break room, having your trainer say "take off those red tags", doing so, then heading out to work.
And it is the best feeling in the world.
No more sighs when people walk up to your turnstile because they don't think you know what you are doing. Being spoken to like you have worked here for years not minutes. It's wonderful to be rid of a red tag.
After me and my roommates all earned our ears, we headed out to Hollywood Studios to ceremoniously buy REAL ears.
We all chose the same kind, cute Minnie Mouse headband ears, and enjoyed one of Mickey's favorite treats--MICKEY BARS!!
The next day we went over to Magic Kingdom for our second Character meet-and-greet with the famous Mouse himself and his beautiful leading lady.
It was an incredible process to train with Disney, and it has been even more incredible working with them. I am the first thing people see as they enter and leave the park, and I make sure they are welcomed with a smile and are ready to come back again.
But while each and every employee has a duty to making the magic, it's important to remember Walt's words: "It all started with a mouse"
